Newport Street Gallery: Damien Hirst's Art Collection

Saturday 28 October | 2.30pm - 4.30pm | Newport Street Gallery, Vauxhall

Newport Street Gallery is the realisation of Damien Hirst’s long-term ambition to share his art collection with the public.  In itself, the gallery is a triumph of architectural vision and recently won the RIBA Stirling prize of 2016.  Inside, this impressive collection of work is an art collector's dream featuring artworks by Picasso, Francis Bacon, Banksy, Tracey Emin, Richard Hamilton, Jeff Koons, Sarah Lucas, Richard Prince, Haim Steinbach and Gavin Turk, as well as a number of today's young and emerging artists. Also featured are the natural history specimens, taxidermy, anatomical models and historical artefacts in which Hirst has showed particular interest throughout his career.  Join our expert guide on this tour as we journey through the collection looking at this brilliant array of artists and the enormous contribution they have made to the development of art today

My son Charlie and I were taken round the National Gallery by Rose Balston, and in three brief hours, we were inspired to levels of wonder. Rose has the gift of allowing you to discover things in the paintings that you would never have noticed before…I’d strongly recommend you join an Art History UK tour.
